SIBU: French BASE jumper Yves Escudier was flown to Kuching in a 7pm flight yesterday to seek further treatment at Sarawak General Hospital.

He was first admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sibu Hospital on Friday night.

Yves was injured when his parachute failed to open fully in time as he leapt off Wisma Sanyan.

Strong wind had caused the accident as Yves’ body was swept against the side of the 27-storey building before his parachute could fully open causing him to plunge.

Fortunately, he hit a tree as he plunged before landing onto a roof, breaking the fall.

The 63-year-old was unconscious after the fall but has now regained consciousness and is in a stable condition.

However, he would need to be operated on for internal bleeding in his head.
