Masing, Entulu retain respective posts unopposed

SIBU:  Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing was returned unopposed as the president of  Parti Rakyat Sarawak at its third trienniel delegates conference which ended here Friday.

Also returned unopposed was his deputy, Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun, who is a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

PRS secretary-general Datuk Wilfred Nisson Rata announced the list of the new office bearers during the members’ and supporters’ appreciation dinner after the meeting.

He added that Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie also retained her Wanita Chief post unopposed.

PRS, however, has a new youth chief in the person of Belaga state assemblyman Liwan Lagang. He is also the state Assistant Minister of Culture and Heritage.

Wilfred said Liwan took over from the former chief and Assistant Agriculture Minister Datuk Mong Dagang who has been elected as one of the five vice-presidents.

Also elected vice president was former deputy Minister of Information, Communications and Multimedia and now chairman of the 1Malaysia Advisory Council for Sarawak, Datuk Joseph Salang.

Others are Lubok Antu member of parliament William Nyallau, Datuk John Sikie and Majang Ranggie.

Meanwhile, Lau Ting Ping, Azizi Morni and new Hulu Rajang member of parliament Wilson Ugak Kumbong were re-elected as members of the party Supreme Council.

A political secretary to the Chief Minister, Angeline Umih Tujok and businessmen Edwin Banta and Datuk Kristoffer Nyuak Bajok were the three new faces elected to the council. — Bernama
