KUCHING: All association Youth members ought to be groomed well to become useful citizens, said Minister of Local Governnment and Community Development Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.
“Youth members are the future leaders of associations. They will ensure the longevity of their associations,” he said at the Federation of Kuching Samarahan Divisions Chinese Youth Associations’ telematch at Song Kheng Hai rugby field here yesterday. Wong said stressed the need for constant communication with youths to prevent them from being swayed by negative elements.
“Constant communication will ensure that young talents are well taken care of and groomed well to be able to contribute positively to the country.”
On the telematch that was participated by 16 teams, he said the event was a good form of physical exercise and help foster ties among the participants.
“Leading a busy lifestyle nowadays leaves no opportunity to interact with other people, aside from family, close friends and colleagues.
“Modern lifestyles have led us to be too engrossed with technology, thus developing a cold attitude towards other people.”
Also present were Youth Section head Lim Goh Hong Jenq, Youth Section advisor Wong Thian Hook and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Phang Dah Nan.
