COLLISION: The two seriously damaged car following the accident in Batu Kawa

KUCHING: A jobless man suffered serious injuries to his head and waist when armed assailants whacked him in his family’s house in Taman Malihah, Jalan Matang, on Sunday night.

Sources said the assailants, armed with wooden clubs and parangs, appeared in the middle of the night to look for the 24-year-old victim.

It was believed the assailants rummaged the house, broke furniture and smashed the window of a Perodua Myvi car before fleeing.

The victim’s family immediately took him to the Sarawak General Hospital before lodging a police report.

The cause of the attack is unclear, and police are investigating.

In a separate incident, a woman suffered light injuries when the car she was driving collided with another car coming from the opposite direction at Batu Kawa at about 9pm yesterday.

It is understood that the accident occurred when the female driver of the other car, which was heading towards Batu Kawa from Central Park, lost control of her car, hit a divider, landed on the opposite side and rammed into the on-coming car. She escaped unhurt.
