CEC re-election should reject family dominance in DAP – Zulkifli

GEORGE TOWN: DAP delegates to the central executive committee (CEC) re-election on Sunday should make the DAP more democratic by preventing it from being dominated by families, former national party vice-chairman Zulkifli Mohd Noor said.

He said it was high time for the slogan ‘ubah’ (change) drummed up by the DAP to be replicated in the re-election to reject family dominance as it had split the party.

“Family dominance has defaced DAP of its much touted multi-racial character and struggle,” he reporters here yesterday.

He said members were becoming more aware that the DAP was being monopolised by certain families and needed the Malay’s participation and support.

“DAP should have given opportunities to more Malays to assume top posts, instead it is dominated by families who are racists and anti-Malay,” he said.

Zulkifli challenged the DAP top leadership to appoint him DAP national chairman if he was elected to the CEC line-up to replace Karpal Singh if he (Karpal) were to decline or relinquish the post.

“What’s wrong if the DAP national chairman post is given to a Malay after 47 years,” he said. — Bernama
