MIRI: Eighty-two federal government officers who have just been transferred to serve in Sarawak are undergoing an orientation programme here.

The six-day programme, which started on Sept 24, is organised by the National Unity and Integration Department Sarawak (JPNIN), Sarawak Federal Secretary Office and Miri Resident Office.

Besides serving as an opportunity for the participants to get to know each other, the programme is also meant to educate them about local cultures and traditions, and the state’s administrative setup and responsibilities.

Among the activities to be held over the next few days are talks and briefing on various topics, including sports and the local community in general.

Also on the cards is an adoption programme for the participants to gel with Kampung Kuala Sibuti folk.

They would also be visiting Rumah Ungeh Bedit (longhouse) and Bekenu.
