DETAINED: The man being taken to the police station to help in the probe of air gun making.

HOME-MADE: A policeman taking one of the two seized air guns to the police station after arresting the man who allegedly made it.

SIBU: A man was arrested yesterday after police suspected he was making air guns for sale in the black market.

Seized from him were the two dangerous weapons and two ‘parangs’ – also home-made.

The guns are made by wielding pieces of metal and tubes together.

They are fixed with a trigger each and the police fear the weapons could cause grievous injuries and even death when fired at short range.

A source said the police received information about the crime at 3pm and they stormed the house at Abang Barieng Road later.

They seized the guns and the ‘parangs’ from the kitchen and the bedroom of the man. They also seized a box of bullets.

The police are worried the 52-year-old man could turn his house into an illegal air gun factory to produce dangerous weapons for criminals.
