MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) will implement car parking control and parking fee collection at four new areas from next Tuesday (Oct 1). Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai said it would involve a total of 543 parking bays.

“We decided to implement car parking control and parking fee collection at these new places
after taking into consideration public requests in view of a shortage of parking lots there, especially due to the closure of private car parking lots at the site of the former Miri Port Wharf, which involved more than 300 private parking lots,” he stated after chairing a full council meeting yesterday.

The areas involved are Centre Point Commercial Centre at Jalan Kubu (314 parking bays), Chop Kie Hock area (39 parking bays), shop lots at Miri City Medical Centre (43 parking bays) and shop lots at Lorong 10, Krokop (147 parking bays).

Jalan Kubu, Chop Kie Hock area and the Miri City Medical Centre have been designated Blue Zones where the fees are 40 sen for 30 minutes, while Lorong 10 Krokop has been listed as a Green Zone where the parking fee is 40 sen per hour.

MCC will enforce the parking fees from 8am to 5pm on weekdays.
