Forum on healthcare topics well attended

KUCHING: A public health forum on healthcare related issues was held at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here yesterday.

Organised by Terumo Malaysia and Borneo Pharmacy Supplies, the forum open to hospital personnel and the public touched on healthcare topics such as diabetes and hypertension.

“We have about 100 nurses and medical assistants from the hospital attending the forum’s morning session which highlights prevention of healthcare infected related issues such as needlestick injury as well as an introduction to a wide range of medical devices to prevent the occurrence of common injuries in everyday medical practice,” Terumo Malaysia sales and marketing executive Stephanie Umairah told The Borneo Post.

For the afternoon session, the forum was open to the public and featured a talk on ‘Heart & Hypertension’ by SGH Heart Centre consultant cardiologist Dr Khiew Ning Zan.

In addition to the health talks, the one-day forum included a blood donation drive and free health-screening comprising blood glucose test, blood pressure and body temperature measurement.for the public.
