KOTA KINABALU: Hybrid solar projects for supplying electricity to rural schools in Sabah are not carried out by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).

The utility company explained yesterday that all installations and maintenance of hybrid solar systems were carried out by the Ministry of Education.

Senior managing director (Asset Management) Ir Ahmad Fuad Md Kasim said SESB was only involved in providing feedback and inputs to the ministry in regards to electricity transmission involving the Sabah Interconnection Grid System.

He added SESB would also not take over the solar projects after it had been commissioned.

The scope of the projects under the Education Ministry is also different from those under the Rural Electricity Supply (RES) implemented in Sabah by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.

The statement was issued yesterday to clarify inaccurate report in a national newspaper on the project.
