KUCHING: The last-minute decision by contenders for the deputy chief post and ordinary supreme council member posts in PBB Youth to withdraw their nominations is said to be yet another strong sign that everyone in PBB is putting party interest above all things.

PBB Youth chief Datuk Fadillah Yusof, who retained his post unopposed, said the decision by Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau and PBB Belaga youth chief Henry Kilah Talek to withdraw from the race was most welcomed.

“ I think this is the be s t indication that we in the youth movement can always come into agreement in all things for the sake of unity and solidarity in the party. This is very important,” he said.

He told The Borneo Post this when asked to comment on the sudden withdrawal by the contenders for the posts in the Bidayuh/Orang Ulu quota. Initially the race for the vice youth chief post for the Bidayuh/ Orang Ulu quota was set to be between Ngau, Kilah and Stanley Sila.

On Wednesday, Ngau and Kilah however announced publicly that they both had withdrawn their nominations, thus giving a free win to Sila.

When confirming his withdrawal at the part y ’s headquarters in Jalan Bako here, Ngau told reporters that apart from the vice-youth post he had also decided not to contest for the Bidayuh/Orang Ulu slot in the supreme council.

“ For the sake of unity and solidarity in the party both Henry and I have decided not to contest for the vice-youth chief post which means that Stanley has won the post uncontested,” he said. Ngau also said his withdrawal from the contest for the exco member post would see the quota for the Orang Ulu filled by PBB Ba Kelalan youth chief Richard Silo Rugu. “We made this decision after discussing it thoroughly and also after taking the advice from senior party leader s .

We thought over it and felt that for the interest of the party and everybody we decided to withdraw and our decision is final,” he said. PBB Bengoh youth chief Miro Simuh has been announced as the exco member for the Bidayuh quota, after he won uncontested when nominations closed last Friday.
