KUCHING: Village leaders have been reminded to thoroughly check documents before signing their names on the dotted line.

Deputy State Secretary Datu Misnu Taha said this would avoid unwanted circumstances.

“Village leaders must thoroughly check any documents that require their signature before signing them. This is because there have been cases involving incomplete projects that contained the signature of a village leader and so on,” he said after closing the Kuching district dialogue session with community leaders yesterday.

Misnu also reminded the village leaders to be committed to carrying out their responsibilities.

“Village leaders ought to know the goings-on in their respective villages and present the reports to the district office immediately in the event of floods, fires and so on,” he said.

Over 170 community leaders from Kuching, Lundu, Bau, Padawan and Siburan took part in the dialogue.

Among those present were Kuching Resident Abang Shamshudin Abang Seruji and Temenggong Lu Kim Yong.
