SMK Lutong rewards 350 students for excellence

MIRI: A total of 350 students of SMK Lutong received recognition awards, prizes and certificates during the school’s Sri Perdana Award Ceremony held yesterday.

Sarawak deputy Education director Alias Ngah, representing Sarawak Education director Datu Abdillah Adam officiated at the ceremony.

“The aim to produce highly educated and quality students requires educators to possess good management skills, creativity, innovativeness, strong determination and endless sacrifices in educating the students.

“Good education will ensure that the students grow into citizens who are competent and capable of thinking creatively and critically,” Abdillah said in his text speech which was read by Alias.

Meanwhile, SMK Lutong principal Marcus Hugo Matu Lejau who spoke earlier said the awards was a motivation for the students to compete healthily and develop positively in fields of academics and co-curricular activities.

“This ceremony can be regarded as a measuring tool for educators to evaluate how far they are capable of nurturing excellent students,” he said.

He took pride in the outstanding achievements that had been attained by students this year.

“There are a variety of accolades celebrated by the school and students in all sorts of events and competitions from school level to international level.

“Support from all related parties is the key instrument in producing quality students who are highly competitive and innovative,” he pointed out.

The awards comprised the Academic Award, Nilam Award, Excellence in extra Curriculum Award, Excellent Students Award, Curtin Awards of Excellence and IBS Excellent Award.
