SIBU: The first of its kind – a bench press competition – will be held at the Solid Gym in Tapang Timur 1 Road at 2pm on Dec 8.
Gym owner Lau Kah Yii was excited about the novelty of the event at a press conference yesterday.
“Solid Gym is rolling out the inaugural competition following popular requests from gym members.
“If the response is good enough, we’ll make it an annual event here,” he promised.
Solid Gym, which has registered over 1,000 members since its inception more than a year ago, is co-owned by Lau, Wesley Tiong and Allen Lee.
The pro-active owners are walking the talk.
Allen will lead the charge in organizing the competition while Wesley has expressed interest in competing in the open category as well as the above 80kg category.
The other two categories for the competition are the below 70kg and 70-80kg.
The open category is open to all comers while the three other categories are only for Solid Gym members. Entry fee is RM5.
Entry forms may be obtained from Allen at the Solid Gym any time after 6pm.
Cash prizes and medals await the winners.
Meanwhile, Lau said Solid Gym would be staging more competitions as and when their members request.
“When members have got themselves prepared, then we’ll arrange to have the competition held, be it in bodybuilding, aerobics or yoga,” he added.
