GEORGE TOWN: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has mobilised more than 50 per cent of its policewomen nationwide to approach students and housewives to check crime at the grassroots.

Bukit Aman Logistics Department deputy director 1, Datuk Zubaidah Md Ismail said the initiative was taken to boost the cooperation of the groups to eradicate crimes around schools and residential areas.

“We will approach these target groups including teachers to give exposure on crime prevention and how to help the police if they have information on incidents of crime around them,” she said.

She was speaking to reporters after launching the 2013 Women Policing for Women Programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK)(Perempuan) St George here yesterday. — Bernama
