KUALA LUMPUR: Former Teratai assemblywoman Jenice Lee Ying Ha yesterday filed a defamation suit against DAP deputy president Tan Kok Wai for allegedly accusing her of corruption, abuse of power and embezzlement.
Lee filed the suit at the High Court civil registry through her lawyer Michael Wong Chamber.
In her suit, Lee claimed that on April 23, 2013 which was the third day of campaigning for the 13th General Election, Tan had held a press conference at the Taman Muda market situated in the Teratai state assembly and accused her of misconduct.
Lee said the statement by Tan, who is also DAP disciplinary committee chairman, was published by Chinese newspapers on the internet.
She is seeking general, aggravated and exemplary damages and an injunction to stop Tan from repeating the statement against her in any manner as such statements had tarnished her integrity and reputation. — Bernama
