Two motorcyclists killed at flyover

TRAGIC: Paramedics examining the bodies upon arrival at the accident scene.

KUCHING: Two men were killed after the motorcycle they were riding on crashed at Simpang Tiga flyover yesterday.

They died of severe injuries.

The victims were Bagio Barret Daut, 20, and Gireng Rumin, 17, both from Kpg Annah Rais in Padawan.

According to sources, the victims were on their way from the city towards Jalan Tun Jugah riding on a Yamaha LC motorcycle around 12.20am.

It was believed that they had lost control of the motorcycle when they were going down the flyover, causing the motorcycle to crash and the two victims thrown about 50 metres from the motorcycle.

The victims, who were killed on the spot, suffered severe injuries to their heads as well as various parts of their bodies.

A team of traffic police from IPD Kuching arrived to conduct investigation.

The fatal accident was believed to be caused by speeding and carelessness of the victims.

The bodies were sent to Sarawak General Hospital for autopsy.
