Kampung Pasir Pandak hot spot for durians

KUCHING: Kampung Pasir Pandak in Santubong near here is a hot selling spot for durians.

Durian lovers from near and even from as far as Brunei, China and Japan visit the area looking for best bargains from road side sellers there. One of the durian sellers, Abdollah Nuhi, said he could sell up to 300 durians on good days.

“I can sell up to 300 durians particularly on weekends and around 100 durians during weekdays,” the 48-year-old said.

“I normally sell my durians here at our stall before moving to Kampung Boyan esplanade parking lot at night,” he said.

Customers, he added, were willing to travel here because the durians here are renowned for their quality.

“Pasir Pandak durians are among the best as they are known for their tender and sweetness and they seldom disappoint customers,” Abdollah boasted.

“One customer even bought nearly 40 durians for their whole family,” he said.

Several types of durians namely the ‘Tembaga’ and ‘Terung’ are found here.

The all-time favourite is the ‘Tembaga’.

Abdollah has been selling durians for 10 years and the durian expert also allocates tables and drinks for customers who prefer to eat at his stall.
