BERA: The government has agreed to allow flood victims who have to service their Tekun loans to defer payments, said Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said this would ease the burden of the borrowers as their businesses would have  been badly hit because of the floods.

“Tekun is also prepared to provide additional funding to affected borrowers if they seek such additional funding to stay afloat.

“I believe they will have difficulty making repayments and we will also have to assist them to continue their enterprises,” he told reporters after visiting flood victims at eight relief centres in the Bera district yesterday.

Ismail Sabri, who is also Bera MP, said those needing additional funding can file in their applications and that the fund for small entrepreneurs would provide between RM5,000 and RM10,000 to eligible applicants. — Bernama
