KAPIT: The Seventh Division Lawn Tennis Association (7DLTA) held a farewell gathering recently for member Ahmad Adham, who will be transferred to Kuching.

Ahmad, who is originally from Kelantan, had been teaching at SMK Selirik for the last seven years – his first posting since graduating.

“Ahmad set the record that he’s a true Malaysian who practises 1Malaysia because he interacts and has been able to mix around with anyone regardless of race or religious background,” said association secretary Glyn Changgat.

“Because he’s humble, tolerant, friendly and easily approachable, he soon became our good friend and part and parcel of this tennis family.”

In his speech, Ahmad said tennis has been his game since university.

“I love the game so much that it has become part and parcel of my life. I always encourage friends to play tennis because this is one of the games where you mix around with people from all walks of life regardless of social position, religion or social creed. While, I’m in Kapit all these years, I’ve made friends with Chinese, Ibans and Orang Ulus. I treasure our friendship very much,” he said.
