KUCHING: ‘Joy to the World of Balloons’ has made it into the Malaysia World Book of Records, for being the biggest Christmas themed landscape made of balloons yesterday.

The landscape located at Boulevard Shopping Mall new wing measures 40 x16 metres , was opened to the public from yesterday, till Dec 30.

Entrance fee is RM2 per adult and RM1 per child. The landscape is made by over 30 balloon artists from Malaysia, Taiwan, Bangkok, China, Singapore and Hong Kong.

“It is amazing what can be made out of simple things like balloons. This collective effort by balloon artists from all over the world working hand-in-hand to create the landscape can foster friendship through balloon art,” said Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh who opened the event yesterday.

He added that the event also works as an exchange of creativity and innovativeness in the art of balloon.

He said that as the record of sorts is for a charitable purpose by giving donations to the needy, the effort needs to be treasured. The more fortunate should lend a hand to the needy and destitute, he said.

At the event, a donation of RM2,000 each was given to the Salvation Army, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society and SJK Chung Hua No.4.
