SIBU: A woman was killed while her two female friends survived when the vehicle they were in plunged into a ravine in Tunku Abdul Rahman Road early yesterday morning.

Rebcca Ukau, 20, from Song was believed to have died of head injuries. Her neck was also said to be broken in the 4.30am incident.

One of her friends suffered internal and chest injuries, while the other sustained injuries to her face and head.

Their conditions are said to be stable.

It was believed that Rebcca was sending one of her friends to Kemuyang when the accident happened.

Before the trip, the trio were said to have gone for a drink in Sibu Jaya.

Rebcca was believed to have lost control of the vehicle when it hit a guard rail before plunging into the ravine.

The impact resulted in all three being flung out of the four-wheel-drive vehicle, with Rebcca’s friends lying unconscious near the ill-fated vehicle.

Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene at about 5.50am after the distress call was raised at 5.21am.

They were all then taken to Sibu Hospital.
