KAPIT: Chung Hua Kindergarten aims to be a centre of excellence for education here.

Board of Management chairman Ma Tian Kock said the kindergarten would ensure all pupils acquire the basic skills of reading, writing and arithmetic upon completion of their two years at the preschool.

“Previously the tutors received two months bonus a year.

Starting from this year, the amount of bonus will depend on the performance of the kindergarten based on the tutors’ and pupils’ performance,” said Ma during a dinner for tutors and the board on Tuesday.

“This is a pre-emptive measure to encourage tutors educate the pupils with total commitment to ensure they benefit from the preschool education to achieve the objective of the education curriculum.”

He added that the board has given the kindergarten an RM35,000 upgrade to ensure better facilities for the pupils.

There are 12 teachers at the kindergarten this year, who attend to 186 pupils.

Meanwhile, former chairman Pemanca Tan Kian Hoo handed over his duties to Ma during the dinner.

“Although now I step down as the chairman, my heart is with Chinese education. I’ll continue to support the Chinese school within my means.

“The Chinese community should cooperate to ensure the proper management of the Chinese school to ensure it remains relevant to provide education to our young,” said Tan.
