MCA Penampang appoints five advisers in bid to recapture Kapayan seat

PENAMPANG: MCA Penampang has begun its preparations to reclaim the Kapayan seat from the opposition in the 14th general election.

For a start it has strengthen its leadership by appointing five advisors – all Chinese community leaders with good financial standing, business acumen and leadership qualities, divisional chief Datuk Paul Kong Sing Chu said.

The five advisors are Datuk Seri Dr How Kok Choong, Datuk Seri Chin Kain Sim, Datuk Wong Kii Yii, Datuk Michael Lui Yen Sang and Datuk Seri Panglima Low Hock Thiam.

Dr How is the CEO of San Hin Group of Companies, the Global president of AGAPE Superior Living Sdn Bhd, president of THN Technology Systems Sdn Bhd, president of Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia, president of Yayasan Bakti Nusa Malaysia, and industrial advisor of Lim Kok Wing University.

Chin is a lawyer and the executive director of SENG Group of Companies while Wong is the president of the Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCCI), vice president of World Federation of Foochow Associations, vice president of The Federation of Foochow Associations of Malaysia, deputy president of Gabungan Dou Mu Gong (Jiu Wang Da Di) Malaysia, president of Hong Fong Sang Ba Sian Miao Devotees Society, Labuan, advisor of Perbadanan Labuan, chairman of Lunmas Sdn Bhd, Yuen Hin Enterprise and Yuen Hin Motor Sdn Bhd, and managing director of Broadwin (M) Sdn Bhd, Broadwin Enterprise Sdn Bhd and Broadwin Venture Sdn Bhd.

Michael is the president of the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI), deputy president of Gabungan Persatuan-Persatuan Hokkien Sabah & WP Labuan, and managing director of Syarikat Lui Kim Chock Sdn Bhd, Lui Kim Chock Properties Sdn Bhd, WNF Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd, Megaria Jesselton Property Sdn Bhd, Gemisetia Sdn Bhd, Unicahaya Sdn Bhd and Kinami Sdn Bhd.

Low is the former chairman of MCA Penampang, and chairman of Suara Wira Sdn Bhd.

“We believe that with the advice and support of these five advisors, MCA Penampang will be able to wrestle back the Kapayan seat for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th general election,” Kong said in a statement.

MCA Penampang held its second divisional committee meeting (2013-2016) on January 7, according to Kong, who was recently re-elected as a top-10 MCA Central Committee member and the only MCA leader from Sabah appointed as a member of the Presidential Council,

The committee unanimously resolved to support the MCA leadership under newly elected president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, deputy president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and all the members of the Central Committee.

“During the meeting the divisional leadership also unanimously announced and endorsed the appointment of five (5) Division Advisors to serve for the term of 2013-2016 and all are MCA members, well established and successful Chinese community leaders and businessmen.

“They will play an important role to offer good advice and provide financial assistance to help MCA Bahagian Penampang recapture the Kapayan seat which the BN lost to the opposition in the 13th general election held on 5th May, 2013.

“With their leadership quality, wisdom and financial resources, MCA Penampang strongly believes and feels confident that the BN can win the Kapayan seat again,” Kong stressed.
