Decomposed body found in river

Cops lift the body onto the vehicle before sending it to the mortuary.

SIBU: The highly decomposed body of a man was found floating face down in Batang Igan, Tutus yesterday afternoon.

Police have yet to identify the body clad in an orange T-shirt and pair of jeans as the identity card was not found on it.

A longhouse villager spotted the body in the water around noon.

The villager called the police at 12.30pm and they arrived three hours later to fish out the body.

Police sent the body to the hospital mortuary where it arrived at 5.30pm.

The man was believed to have been dead for four to five days.

Cause of death was not known but a postmortem will be conducted on the body. There was a large dragon tattoo on the back of the body.

Meanwhile, Sungai Merah police received a report that a 21-year-old man from Bintangor had gone missing two weeks ago after going out out for a drinking session with friends on Dec 29.

Friends sent him to his relative’s home at Taman Indah but the relative found him missing at 3.30pm the next day.

However, police have confirmed that the unidentified body was not that of the 21-year-old missing man.
