PAPAR: The government will upgrade the Pan-Borneo road linking Sabah and Sarawak to a highway with the RM500 million allocated under the Budget 2014, says Works deputy minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.

“We will also see how the traffic congestion in Putatan could be alleviated.

The government acknowledges the people’s woes, particularly traffic congestion, and has made it a priority,” she told reporters here yesterday.

Rosnah who is also Papar MP said the allocation would also be utilised for the maintenance of ‘black spots’ or accident-prone areas.

The upgrading of the 2,300 km Pan-Borneo road between Sematan in Sarawak and Serundong in Sabah was one of the pledges made by the Barisan Nasional in its ‘Aku Janji’ manifesto in the 13th general election.— Bernama
