LIMBANG: Agrobank Limbang branch will continue to go down to the ground to extend its services both in the rural and urban areas.

Its branch head, Yahya Jokeni, said contrary to some misconceptions, the bank conducts various outreach programmes to promote their services and at the same time enhances cooperation and understanding among the local community.

“So far, we have conducted ‘Sudut Programme’ – a mobile counter — not only at selected schools but also in markets, trading centres in Medamit areas and also at longhouses,” he said yesterday at the presentation ceremony of a cheque for the payment of Takaful Credit Insurance Scheme to Dayangku Normalati Awang Baja.

Dayangku Normalati is a widow of Usop Basar, a client of the bank, who died in May last year.

Yahya added the mobile counter service is among their initiatives to introduce the bank’s services besides encouraging a saving culture among students, while the set-up at Medamit District Office, held every month since December 2012 was to make it convenient for their clients to enjoy their services without having to go to Limbang town.

Meanwhile, the ‘Sales Day’ programme is one of their outreach programmes, held every Wednesday, on the ground floor of Agrobank office here.

“This programme so far received very encouraging response from the people and we also introduce our new products on the Sales Day,” he said, adding that Ar Rahnu Agrobank was among the most popular products.

Ar Rahnu is an Islamic concept of investment pawn scheme providing loans based on Syariah Al Qardul Hasan and clients used their jewellery as guarantor.

On the Takaful Credit Insurance Scheme, he said it is a package to insure clients that obtain personal loans from the bank.
