KUALA LUMPUR: The National Film Development Corporation (Finas) is not involved in any misuse of funds, but merely encountering problems in preparing the financial accounts, said its director-general, Raja Rozaimie Raja Dalnish Shah.

He said the problems entailed financial reports that could not be verified by the National Audit Department in managing cash flow and bank reconciliation.

The matter was pointed out during a meeting with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday over matters raised in the Auditor-General’s Report 2012, he told reporters after launching the second creative sector training programme at University Kuala Lumpur here yesterday.

He was commenting on PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed’s statement that a former secretary-general and two former Finas director-generals would be summoned over the A-G’s Report that cited the corporation’s poor financial management from 2009 to 2012.

On the meeting with the PAC, Raja Rozaimie said, “On the whole, the PAC has accepted the reasons given by us and Finas will wait for a follow-up from the PAC.”

He said Finas had already made improvements in managing its accounts by adhering to the A-G’s report 2012 recommendations to ensure that they were in order and kept up to date. — Bernama
