KOTA BAHARU: The Kelantan chapter of Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) yesterday filed a police report against a lawyer for making a mockery of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s remark on the exclusivity of the word ‘Allah’ to Muslims.

Its head, Azman Yazid, together with 50 members, lodged the report at the Kota Baharu police station for stern action to be taken against lawyer Edmund Bon.

Last Sunday, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, in his capacity as the Sultan of Kedah, in his address at an investiture ceremony in conjunction with the Sultan of Kedah’s 86th birthday, which was read out by Sultan of Kedah Council of Regency chairman Tan Sri Tunku Annuar Sultan Badlishah, said that several words including ‘Allah’ were the exclusive rights of Muslims, citing a 1986 decree by the National Fatwa Council on their use.

In reaction to that, Bon issued a statement which was posted in a portal that Malaysia is a secular and a non-Islamic country and therefore does not have to abide by any ruling issued by the rulers or the National Fatwa Council. —Bernama
