KOTA SAMARAHAN: The design for the overhead bridge to be built at the entrance of the old Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) campus has been completed and is now pending commissioning.

Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang who told reporters this also said the state government was committed to the project.

“The allocation to build the overhead bridge under the state Government has already been approved and we are now in the process of getting the allocation soonest possible in line with the need to build the overhead bridge for safety purpose,” she told the press after she launching the Universiti Institut

Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Entrepreneurship Programme Carnival yesterday.

She also said the earlier cost for the project was around RM1 million but now it had increased to more than RM2 million.

She explained there was a need for the overhead bridge as without the bridge, many students and nearby residents had to dash across the road to get to their destinations and this posed a danger to them with the many vehicles using that road.
