SEPANG: “We are just happy to be here, we don’t know yet where we want to go after this,” said Aishah Azizul Raheem, the eldest child of the Malaysian couple detained by the Swedish authorities.

That was her reaction when she and her three siblings arrived in Malaysia.

Aishah, 14, and her brothers Ammar, 12, Adam, 11, and Arif, 7, arrived at about 7.04am at the KL International Airport, here from Stockholm on a Malaysia Airlines flight.

The four siblings were accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin, his special officer and a relative of the siblings.

Their father, Azizul Raheem Awalludin, a Tourism Malaysia official, and mother, Shalwati Norshal, a teacher who is on no-pay leave, were still being remanded by the Swedish authorities on Dec 18 for allegedly hitting the hand of one of his sons who refused to perform his prayers.

The four siblings were later taken to meet the prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, at her residence in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur this morning. — BERNAMA
