KUCHING: A car wash and fruits shop at Foochow Road No.1 here was broken into during the long Chinese New Year public holidays.
The burglary was only discovered by the owner, in his 60s, when he was re-opening for business yesterday morning.
He saw the shop ransacked and claimed the burglars might have gained entry through the bathroom by damaging the ceiling.
Among the missing items from the shop were a watergun, vacuum set and gas cylinder, and loss was estimated to be about RM5,000.
In a separate case, a 50-year-old contractor suffered a huge loss after his construction materials kept inside the store of his house at Taman Satria BDC went missing yesterday.
The burglary was discovered when he was about to go to work. As he went into the store to get some materials, he noticed several items had gone missing – a cement mixer and construction electrical machine, among
others.
It was believed that burglars had entered the house by damaging the padlock of the store door which is located at the side of the house.
Police reports were lodged and police are in the midst of investigations.
