Six youths nabbed for alleged meth abuse

Two of the six suspects arrested for allegedly abusing Methamphetamine being escorted to the Miri High Court.

MIRI: Police arrested six youths, aged from 19 to late 20s, for allegedly abusing the drug Methamphetamine at a house in Luak Bay on Monday.

The arrest was made following a tip-off.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit told The Borneo Post yesterday that police are investigating the case under three different sections.

“All six suspects will be investigated under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for abusing the drug Methamphetamine, while one of them will also be investigated under Section 12 (2) of the same Act for possessing drugs,” he said.

Another suspect will also be investigated under Section 3 (1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.

Meanwhile, 10 people were arrested for playing Holo at a premises in Jalan Merpati around 3am yesterday.

The men were aged between 20 and 40.

Police also seized about RM1,000 and gambling paraphernalia from the premises.
