Fire at i-City wax museum could be due to internal sabotage — Police

KUALA SELANGOR: The police have not ruled out the possibility the fire at the i-City Red Carpet wax museum in Shah Alam last Wednesday was due to internal sabotage.

Selangor police deputy chief Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said business rivalry was another factor which investigators were looking into.

He said this when met by reporters after a working visit in conjunction with ‘Ops Selamat’ at Kampung Asam Jawa here yesterday.

The fire at 2.30am, which destroyed part of the exhibition area and 10 wax models at the museum, was believed to have been carried out by three individuals based on footage obtained from the closed-circuit television cameras installed at the museum.

I-Berhad deputy chairman Datuk Eu Hong Chew, the developer of i-City, was reported to have said that work to replace and rebuild the models was being carried out and expected to be ready for public display in two months.

In a separate development, Abd Rahim said ‘Ops Selamat IV’, which was launched on Jan 24 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, indicated a drop of eight per cent in accident cases in Selangor, up till yesterday. — Bernama
