MIRI: Those who plan to tour Bhutan should not miss a photo exhibition organised by Miri Photography Society at Pustaka Miri on Thursday.

Admission to ‘The Himalaya – Photo Exhibition and Tour Presentation’, which starts at 7pm, is free to everyone.

The key speaker will be Sonam Phuntsho, a prominent and experienced tour operator in Bhutan. He owns and operates Bhutan Norter Adventures touring business.

The society’s advisor cum Borneo Automobile Leisure Touring Team organiser Ling Tung King said he had heard stories in the past of people wanting to visit Bhutan but never made it.

“With Sonam’s presentation, I am sure those keen to visit his country could get many tips and do’s and don’ts in order to enjoy the peace, green scenery and fresh air there,” Ling told a press conference here yesterday.

Audiences are in for a treat because they would be able to feast their eyes on hundreds of photos and videos taken by Ling and his convoy of their whole journey in Bhutan.

“Through arrangements by Sonam, we considered ourselves lucky to be able to tour the whole Himalaya in September last year. Ling’s convoy comprised 18 4×4 vehicles from Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore.

The 15,000km journey, involving 54 participants, traversed Peninsular Malaysia, Laos, Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan and Myanmar in 52 days.

The convoy set the record of becoming the first Malaysian 4×4 convoy to venture into Bhutan and Myanmar.
