MIRI: Sarawak Single Mothers Association, Miri branch (SSMAM), treated one of its members Julia Juwen who is now a councillor to high tea at Imperial Palace Hotel here on Sunday.

Former political secretary to the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Sebastian Ting and the SSMA Miri chairlady Majanah were present at the occasion. Councillor Julia also celebrated her belated birthday that fell on Feb 14 this month.

“I wish to thank friends and SSMA members for supporting me all this while and I look forward to working as a councillor in Miri city,” Julia said.

She said SSMAM as well as the local representatives here have been very supportive and looked forward to working closely to help the association gain more assistance for single mothers.

SSMAM chairlady Majanah said the association was pleased that there is now a representative from the Single Mothers Association in the Miri City Council that can channel and voice their problems. There are over 700 single mothers registered with the association.
