eProcurement targets more entrepreneurs

PADANG BESAR: The Ministry of Finance’s eProcurement Unit is targeting more entrepreneurs, especially in rural areas, to submit tenders for government projects through its website.

Senior assistant director of the unit, Aishah Othman, said the eProcurement Mobile Van unit launched last year would participate in 18 Mobile Community Transformation Centre (CTC) programmes scheduled nationwide this year.

“Even after participating in three Mobile CTC Programmes in January we find that there’re still many entrepreneurs, especially in rural areas, who are not aware of the advantages of submitting tenders through the eProcurement website.

“We give clear explanations and answer their queries,” Aishah told Bernama when met at the CTC Programme in Felda Chuping here yesterday.

eProcurement is the Federal Government’s tender system which can be accessed  at www.eperolehan.gov.my

Entrepreneurs are charged a fee of RM450, valid for three years, to register with the system which qualifies them to tender for government projects at no additional charges.

Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry’s National Strategy Unit plans to enhance the Mobile CTC programme in order to strengthen its impact and attract more visitors.

The unit’s director, Datuk Dr Baharom Jani, said among the improvements were job recruitment interviews by the Public Service Commission at Mobile CTC Programme venues.

“This way more opportunities are given to job seekers from rural areas to attend interviews which are usually held in cities,” he told reporters here, yesterday. — Bernama
