Quick action by two good samaritans saves girl from abductors

KOTA BAHARU: Quick action by two men foiled an abduction attempt on an eight-year-old girl by two kidnappers in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kemuning, Pengkalan Chepa here on Monday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said in the 5.30pm incident, the two good samaritans who were passing through the area stopped when they saw two men struggling with a girl.

“They went to the rescue of the girl who was being pulled by the hands into a car,” he said after opening an Excellent Student Seminar at the Kota Baharu police headquarters here yesterday.

Jalaluddin said during the incident the victim was waiting for her parents after school when the two suspects came.

“Nonetheless, the girl starting running and shouted for help and one of the suspects tried to hit the girl with a piece of wood,” he said.

He said the suspects fled when the two men went to the aid of the girl.

“The victim was later sent home by the two good samaritans about two kilometres from the school,” he said.

Meanwhile, he called on the two individuals who saved the girl to come forward and assist police track down the suspects.

The victim’s mother said she was grateful to the two individuals who rescued her daughter.

“If the two men did not stop to help, my daughter may have been abducted,” she said. — Bernama
