Recipients queuing up in orderly manner and being politely attended to by counter staff at Sibu Town Square.

SIBU: A good system is in place here to ensure smooth distribution of 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) 3.0 where there are 12,283 recipients for the first phase.

According to Sibu Resident Sim Kok Kee, the system had been strengthened from their past experiences.

“With the experience of previous sessions, staff can deliver efficient service resulting in the smooth process of distribution,” he told thesundaypost yesterday.

An observation at Sibu Town Square here yesterday spotted speedy and orderly distribution of the vouchers despite the big turnout.

Recipients too were toeing the line, and queuing according to the state constituencies, namely Nangka, Pelawan, Bawang Assan, Dudong and Bukit Assek.

They waited patiently for their turn while the counter staff should be given a pat on their back for their professionalism.

There was also a special counter to attend to the elderly.

The police and Rela helped ensure the smooth flow.

Meanwhile, Sim said the counters are closed today and will reopen from tomorrow till Tuesday (March 4).

“Any unclaimed notification (with voucher) will be posted or delivered to the recipients,” he added.

Meanwhile, until 3pm yesterday, a total of 948 recipients obtained their vouchers as heavy rain pelted down in the afternoon.

On the first day of distribution, 1,871 recipients received their BR1M vouchers and on Friday 1,057 got theirs.

Meanwhile, Penghulu Enyang Menchol advised longhouse folk in far flung places to be patient.

Enyang said with the rural postal service, letters would be delivered.

“So, be patient as letters could reach your doorsteps later. There is no need to come down unnecessarily as it would be a waste of time and money,” he advised.

He said the assistance from the government could lessen the people’s burden if spent wisely.
