SIBU: A gathering was held for some 300 pepper farmers and their families last Monday at a hotel here with Julau MP
and 1Malaysia Sarawak Advisory Council chairman, Datuk Joseph Salang as the patron.
The Malaysian Pepper Board organised the gathering as a gesture of appreciation to
these farmers who are from Julau, Pakan, Sarikei and Meradong.
Board chairman Datuk Henry Sum Agong, its director-general Datuk Grunsin Ayom, and Sarikei Resident Dahim Nadot were also present.
Sarikei Division is one of the main pepper growing areas in the state, with Julau district having about 439 hectares dedicated to the commodity.
