CT Academic Services to hold GO Study Education Fair

MIRI: CT Academic Services will hold the GO Study Education Fair tomorrow (March 21) at Imperial Palace Hotel from 2pm to 6pm.

Students can meet with university and college representatives from countries such as the United Kingdom and New Zealand as well as from Malaysian tertiary institutions.

Parents can get study information on loans and scholarships, tuition fees, intake dates, and course counselling.

Students should bring along their results and other supporting documents for academic assessment.

UC International College (UCIC) in New Zealand offers personalised support and the opportunity to study at the University of Canterbury, with intakes in March, June and October.

The University of Canterbury is ranked in the world’s top 250 universities under the QS World Rankings 2012/2013 and is the only New Zealand university with a 5-star QS ranking for internationally-renowned research and teaching.

The University of Otago, placed in the top 50 world rankings, offers foundation year and undergraduate study for a wide range of courses.

New Zealand has relatively low living costs due to its competitive currency and offers good migration opportunities.

Highly experienced UK counsellors on Abbey College, Cambridge Tutors College, University of St Andrews, International Study Centres (ISC) to Royal Holloway, University of London, Lincoln University, Surrey University, University of Leicester and the University of Lancaster will be at the fair.

Curtin University offers Foundation Pathway (three semesters) and Foundation Programmes (two semesters) in Engineering and Commerce for students with three credits and above in SPM with the deadline for the current intake being March 28.

Its programmes are recognised worldwide and students will graduate with an Australian qualification.

Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and A Level students are encouraged to apply for degree programmes starting July 31.

Curtin offers 25 per cent, 50 per cent and 100 per cent scholarships.

Swinburne University, which will waive all application fees for students who apply during the fair, has foundation programmes in Engineering, Science, Information Technology and Commerce commencing April 7.

Its curriculum is sourced directly from its home campus in Melbourne, Australia and the programmes are well known for being practical and career-oriented with close links to industry.

Many programmes are accredited and recognised by professional bodies such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Australia, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Engineers Australia, Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

Taylor’s College offers a RM500 discount for students who apply during the education fair for Pre-U programmes (A Level, South Australian Matriculation, International Baccalaureate or Canadian Pre-U).

Taylor’s University offers an RM1,000 discount for students who apply for Foundation, Degree and Diploma programmes, with a further RM5,000 study grant awarded to students who meet minimum requirements and join 2014 intakes. It is redeemable upon progressing to degree programmes at Taylor’s University.

Taylor’s has RM12 million in scholarships up for grabs.

Students interested in Diploma in Hotel Management, Tourism Management, Culinary Arts and Event Management will get RM5,000 for 1A to 2A’s in SPM, and up to full scholarships.

Bumiputera students can enjoy an RM3,500 discount for each year of their study at Taylor’s.

Fajar College will waive registration fees for students who register for Diploma in Accountancy, Diploma in Business Studies or Diploma in Human Resource Management.

Students who wish to apply for National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans for diploma programmes only have to pay RM500 to start.

Students who register for the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety will get a RM150 registration fee waiver and every A in SPM entitles students to RM500.

Inti International University and Colleges offers courses such as Engineering, Business, Health Sciences, Mass Communication, Law, Hospitality, Computing, Art and Design, Biotechnology and Life Sciences and American University Program.

Students with monthly family incomes of less than RM6,000 can apply for Edu-Assist for up to 30 per cent discounts with a wide range of scholarships available.

KDU University College offers certificate, diploma and bachelor’s degree courses developed internally as well as bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes conducted in association with prestigious Australian and UK universities.

A RM1,000 tuition fee discount and RM300 registration fee waiver await students who register on the spot.

HELP University offers Business, Law, Management, Economics, IT, Social Sciences and Humanities at undergraduate and graduate levels as well as Pre-U Cambridge, Edexcel A Levels and Foundation in Arts or Science that can lead into Year 1 degree programmes in Australia, the UK and New Zealand. There are also full and partial scholarships.

UCSI University offers Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Engineering and Architecture to Music, Multimedia, Education, Liberal Arts and Hospitality.

Its Co-Operative Education Training Programme (Co-Op) enhances employability by integrating classroom learning with workplace training in Co-Op employer organisations.

With two months of work experience for every study year, a UCSI University student would have six to eight months of work experience upon graduation.

Riam Institute of Technology offers Cambridge A Levels and diploma programmes with full scholarships for A Level programmes for students with 8A’s and above for SPM.

Its new programmes are Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Diploma in Hotel Management and Diploma in Patisserie, with the next intake in May.
