Facebook account holder nabbed over Rosmah’s doctored picture

KUALA LUMPUR: The police detained a Facebook account holder early yesterday, in connection with alleged dissemination of a doctored photograph of the prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

The 25-year-old suspect who worked at a laundry shop was picked up at his house in Seri Iskandar, Perak at 12.05am.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said, apart from inspecting the man’s house, the police also seized among others, a mobile phone, computer set and a thumb-drive.

He said the suspect was remanded for three days to facilitate investigations.

He said the case was investigated under Section 233 (1) of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 505 of the Penal Code on statements causing public mischief.

Recently, the photograph of a mangled body superimposed with Rosmah’s face was found uploaded in the suspect’s Facebook account.

The picture went viral in the social site.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Gan Kong Meng said the police had received two reports related to a twitter pertaining to Rosmah, which he added, could alarm the public.

He said both reports would be investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233

of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998. — Bernama
