SIBU: Members of SK St Mary’s Parent-Teacher Association here are urged to work together with the school to bring it to new heights.

PTA chairman John Lye Tuck Lee stressed this is very important as they need to build strong rapport with teachers and work closely to ensure students were successful in their studies.

He was speaking at the annual general meeting of SK St Mary’s PTA held at the school hall yesterday.

School headmistress Alice Ong was also present.

According to Lye, close cooperation was vital in line with efforts to turn the school into a high performance school.

‘”Without close cooperation, the school might not be able to achieve this.”

“Thus, we all must work hand in hand with all the teachers here,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lye also said a walkway with roofing is now under construction at the school for convenience of its students.

“With the completion of this roofed walkway, students will be able to enter the school comfortably especially during rainy days,” he said.

He also said that a rear staircase access is under construction for the convenience of non-Muslim students going for Friday Children Mass at St. Mary’s Church next door.

“The school headmistress, Alice and us in the school’s PTA are very concerned about our children safety whenever they want to go for the Friday Children Mass at St. Mary’s Church because previously they had to walk along the heavily congested road during peak hours on Friday afternoon towards the church gate,” he added.

According to Lye, a computer room with 36 units of new computers for the computer class had been set up.

He also urged parents and members of the public to contribute used books such as novels, story books, or even magazines to the school library.
