Sultan in Kuala Lumpur to attend the 14th Defence Services Asia, Exhibition and Conference

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to attend the 14th Defence Services Asia, Exhibition and Conference, Brudirect reported.

The four-day event begins tomorrow, April 14 to 17.

Upon arrival at the Subang Military Air Base, His Majesty was greeted by the Minister of Defence, His Excellency Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin bin Tun Hussein, and the Chief of Defence Forces, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin, as well as Senior Officials from the Government of Malaysia.

Also present to greet His Majesty were the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, and the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia, His Excellency Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ishaaq bin Haji Abdullah.

His Majesty consented to walk through a static guard of honour mounted by the Malaysian Armed Forces before boarding the motorcade towards the Shangri-La Hotel where His Majesty will reside during the visit.

Accompanying His Majesty were the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, and the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Muhammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar.

Prior to His Majesty’s departure, a Doa Selamat by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Haji Awg Abdul Aziz bin Juned at the Istana Nurul Iman.

Present at His Majesty the Sultan Flight hangar to bid farewell to His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah as well as other members of the royal family.

Also present at the hangar were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Cheterias, Speaker of the Legislative Council, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Privy Council, Deputy Ministers, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Acting Commissioner of Police as well as the Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam.

The Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference was first introduced in 1988. DSA 2014 is a static defence technology and equipment exhibition showcasing latest generic security solutions and armament systems to meet the requirements of the country’s security forces and that of the Asia Pacific countries. This year’s exhibition will showcase about 1,000 companies from 50 countries.
