KUCHING: Amanah Raya Bhd (AmanahRaya) Sarawak Branch has registered a total of 20 will files and opened 15 files involving trust management during the first two months of this year.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri said the numbers showed that Sarawakians were increasingly aware of the importance of estate administration and other services offered by AmanahRaya.

She said estate administration is actually an extension of financial management.

“Estate administration will ensure that the next generation or our heir’s life in the future will be taken care of.

“I urge Sarawakians, especially women and single mothers, to take the first step in estate administration,” she said when officiating at the opening of AmanahRaya Sarawak Branch new office at Jalan Kulas here yesterday.

Nancy noted that from January to December last year, AmanahRaya Sarawak Branch registered a total of 158 wills and 92 trust files .

Most of the customers, she said, were private sector employees and non-Muslims.

“This may be because they are more aware of the products offered by AmanahRaya and the charge for estate administration is very minimal. The government wants to help the people.”

Leading by example, Nancy was happy to register her will.

“Hopefully with this, there will be more people stepping out and have confidence in registering their will and fulfil their responsibility in estate administration.”

Among those present at the function were AmanahRaya chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Assistant Youth Development Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri and AmanahRaya Sarawak Branch chief Saftuyah Adenan.
