MIRI: More than 85 per cent of graduates from Pelita Maslaut Maritime Academy have found employment in shipping companies.

Its managing director Masni Amit said the academy was a trusted body and recognised by local and foreign shipping firms as it had achieved a number of milestones, especially in terms of producing quality manpower, ever since it was established more than 10 years ago.

“We produce quality trainees annually. Their performances are monitored closely to ensure they are ready for the job market when they graduate,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Masni said the shipping industry, especially those in the state, had never doubted the capabilities of students from Pelita Maslaut.

He advised parent to encourage their children to venture into the shipping industry or pursue a career in the maritime sector as the returns were lucrative.

Pelita Maslaut, which is endorsed by the Malaysia Marine Department, will have its new intake today and on April 22.

The intake would be held at Pelita Maslaut Maritime Academy at Lot 7164, Level 1, Desa Pujut II, Bandar Baru Permy Jaya, Miri, starting at 9am.
