KUCHING: Lithuanian street artist Ernest Zacharevic put paint to fame on his first wall in Kuching yesterday morning, and citizens rejoiced by sharing – and resharing – the outcome all over social media.

It’s going viral for sure. A shop wall in Jalan Power can now count the ‘Great Ape-scape’, a runaway wheelbarrow full of young orangutans as a new interactive ‘art-traction’ in Kuching.

Not far away on the same wall, another young orang utan hangs from a pipe while sipping a drink from a plastic bag.

A light moment while Zacharevic works on the finishing touches.

The 27-year-old artist began his phenomenal work yesterday morning and instantly drew a crowd, turning Sunday shoppers into Sunday gawkers.

He is in Kuching for a week on the invitation of Spago Property Sdn Bhd, who first tipped the public off when they asked their Facebook followers for suggestions of where Zacharevic should paint.

The street artist is famously responsible for murals such as ‘Little Children on a Bicycle’ in Penang’s Georgetown, and the controversial snatch theft setup in Johor featuring Lego people — which an unappreciative municipal erased.

Lithuanian street artist Zacharevic adds colour to the sketch.
