KUCHING: The PruBSN Mobility application rolled out in December last year is one of the modernised strategies undertaken by Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd (PruBSN) in an effort to increase its market share in the takaful industry.

According to PruBSN chief executive officer Azim Mithani, growing an online presence was crucial for PruBSN as people who are Gen-Y or younger continue to develop and use these technologies.

“Online presence has become crucial for businesses today. Customers today want to acquire products at their convenience and get their requests simply facilitated online,” he said to The Borneo Post recently.

“We do need to embrace technology as it is advancing very fast and we need to be able to use its capability more robustly.

“In PruBSN, we embrace this in the last couple of years by developing our very own tablet based solution for both our customers and our distribution team, to make access to our products so much easier. For us, we consider this channel as a tool which gives us the capabilities to improve our distributors’ facilities moving forward.”

PruBSN mobility was rolled out in December 2013 to a pilot group of distributors and since then, the app has been used by more than 920 of PruBSN’s takaful consultants who have now begun to promote the company’s products and services using the app in the market.

Azim believed there will be more downloads as the group continually provides extensive training to its distributors on the app and soon, allowing for more Malaysians to have easy access to the company’s offerings.

“The application enables our consultants to make a complete sales submission in a simple, efficient and accurate manner, making it even easier for them and other intermediaries to promote the company’s products and services to a wider audience.

“Firstly, our agents will conduct a thorough fact-finding with their clients to understand their financial background and lifestyle profile. Upon submission of the client’s details, the application will automatically develop a unique profile of the client and continue to generate accurate quotation based on the profile. By completing these few steps, the proposal will be submitted for back-end verification whereby the commencement of coverage can now be obtained as quickly as one hour.”

Azim affirmed that customers would no longer have to spend time filling in forms and at the same time will play their part in reducing carbon emissions through the absence of physical documents.

“PruBSN Navigator has received encouraging response from the public with over 4,200 users since it was made available free for all in November 2013. This app is a value-added service for the community, especially our customers, a gift for their enduring support towards PruBSN over the years.”

“Given the convenience, user-friendliness, power of virtual world as well as  customer confidence, Azim expected to see tremendous development in PruBSN’s digital channels.  This ultimately will be the main resource of new and continued businesses; therefore we remain committed to continue leveraging on advances in technology as new drivers of growth for the business.”

In the future, the PruBSN CEO was optimistic on leveraging digital platforms to reflect the ever changing technological and business landscapes to serve the changing needs of customers.

“Digital migration presents an attractive prospect. Nevertheless, we must first evaluate the real demands and needs before we can offer such service.

“PruBSN continues to make enhancements through its digital platforms and will be providing additional digital services to our customers, agents and the public,” he concluded.
