SRI AMAN: Teachers have been asked to be creative and innovative in order to produce a generation of excellent students in line with the country’s vision.

Assistant Minister of Rural Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said teachers with both qualities would always come up with improvements for the teaching system.

“We call upon educators in the state to change the way they teach and put more creativity and innovation into their process. That way, it will draw the interest of students to a subject,” he said during a recent SK Gran Stumbin parent-teacher association dinner.

He said teachers have wisdom of how to bring about conducive change to their teaching environment.

“This is important because students will only be interested if the teacher keeps up with the times in their teaching methods,” he said.

Harden also called on parents to prioritise their children’s education.

“Many among the poor are sending their children to school, even up to university,” he said.

“I believe that many parents are now aware that this is how they can change their children’s standard of living.”

On the subject of information and communication technology (ICT) development, Harden said that students must equip themselves with ICT skills in order to find employment.
