MIRI: A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team arrested an unemployed 36-year-old man at a Jalan Airport hotel room around 4.45pm on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in a recent break-in.

Under Ops Pintu, police seized multiple items including Malaysian and foreign currencies totalling over RM500 from the suspect’s wallet, two mobile phones, a Karambit knife and a Taser.

Following questioning, the suspect led police to a toilet on the first floor of a shop house in Taman Tunku where they found two laptops and a dark blue bag containing several items believed to have been used in a break-in at an Ocean Park house in Luak Bay on Monday.

The items included a 41 centimetre machete, a cutter, three walkie-talkies, two screw drivers, a chain and binoculars.

The suspect was taken to the Miri Central Police Station to facilitate the investigation.

Miri police chief ACP Gan Tian Kee confirmed receiving a report on the arrest.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
